​What is a brief history of WALA?
WALA was founded in 2018 by a group of 28 experienced Australian Labradoodle breeders united by a shared vision of worldwide collaboration and education. Eleven of those breeders volunteered to form the first WALA Board of Directors.

How is WALA different from other ALD breed associations?

How do I become a breeder member?

What are the primary fees associated with WALA membership and services?
WALA has three main fees:

New Member Application Fee: $250 USD (one-time fee)

Annual Membership Renewal Fee: $125 USD

Litter Registration Fee: $25 USD per litter
These fees help support WALA's mission to uphold the integrity of the ALD breed through education, health standards, breeder support, and a strong global community.

Are dual memberships with other ALD breeder associations allowed?
Yes. WALA welcomes dual members​.

How can I become more involved with WALA?
Members can volunteer to serve on committees, workgroups, or projects by contacting the WALA Board.​​
Does WALA have a pedigree database?
Yes. WALA maintains a robust pedigree database with over 115,000 dogs. More information is available on our WALA Breeder Perks page.

Does WALA accept pedigrees from other breed organizations?
Yes. WALA accepts pedigrees from a published list of approved breed organizations. Pedigrees can be submitted to our Registration Team for pre-approval and are graded according to WALA's guidelines.

Does WALA accept dogs not registered by an organization on the approved list?
Possibly. Pedigrees that are traceable to approved clubs with registration numbers and at least six generations of documented lineage may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.

Does WALA honor regional laws that conflict with its own rules or regulations?
Yes. In cases where regional laws conflict with WALA's Rules and Regulations or Code of Ethics, the laws of the breeder member's country of residence will take precedence.

Can pet families join WALA?
Yes. Pet owners may join the WALA Pet Society, a program designed to connect ALD families who support the breed's long-term health and well-being. Membership offers a simple way to support responsible breeding practices and stay connected to the WALA community.​
